The workshop on the Health Evidence Network at the VHL was held in Sao Paulo,
on April 10-11, 2006. It was dedicated to the analysis of the HEN methodology
for the identification, organization and dissemination of evidences to support
decision making policies in public health. The HEN network is promoted and coordinated
by the WHO Regional Office for Europe (Euro), and it was presented by Anca Dumitrescu,
Director, Special Programme on Public Health Publishing (Euro/WHO). Abel Packer,
Director of BIREME/PAHO/WHO, presented the terms of reference to the construction
of the Health Evidence Network at the VHL and also coordinated the event, held
in the context of the VHL on Public Health with the collaboration of MS, SBMFC
and the Cochrane Center Brazil

Advancing the works performed at the 4th Meeting of the Regional Coordination
of ScienTI Network, held in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, in September 2005, Portugal
and Chile produced a document comparing the classification systems of fields
of knowledge at the ScienTI Network. Most participating countries implemented
the same table of fields of knowledge – CvLAC. The fact that there is
this single table enables an investigator from Portugal to search people, projects
or organizations of the same area in another country of the network

published twice a year by the Bioethics Unit, of PAHO,

The LILDBI-Web, main application of the LILACS Methodology, and its version
in three languages (Portuguese, Spanish and English) enables bibliographic data
bases online data entry including bibliographic description and indexing of
scientific and technical health documents. The LILACS data entry is carried
out by a network of more than 300 Latin American and Caribbean cooperating centers
using the LILDBI. This new version offers a series of new functionalities and
improvements in the interface of navigation and in the forms of elements of

March 9, 2006 was a landmark for those responsible for developing the VHL PHS
in Colombia. This was the day of the first meeting present to the VHL PHS and
its most recent developments. "We invited 56 people from the public sector
and from the academic environment. The idea was to hold a debate and listen
the suggestions to improve what we have", said Yolanda Ruan de la Carrera,

VHL PHS and for the institutions members on the Advisory Committee of the VHL,

Rogério Meneghini and Rogério Mugnaini, took part in the preparation
of this important book, written under a decentralized work methodology by groups
