New statute updates the institutional and operational framework of BIREME

BIREME experiences one of the most important moments along its 42 years of history of technical cooperation in scientific information and communication in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) approved the statute of BIREME that provides the structure of governance, financing and scope of action of the Center. VHL, NECOBELAC and SciELO Networks participate in the Open Access Week

The Open Access Week, held on October 19-23, 2009, offered events from different parts of the world. The meeting of the VHL, NECOBELAC and SciELO networks took place in Rome, Italy, and was presentially or remotely attended by participants from their European, Latin American and Caribbean members. Technical Committee of the VHL Brazil moves toward collective management of the VHL

The 1st Meeting of the VHL Brazil Technical Committee, composed of representatives from the certified thematic networks, prepared agreements, conclusions and recommendations to strengthen governance, management and cooperative operation of the VHL Brazil as a public asset. The VHL Odontology Uruguay was launched during the Oral Health Week in October. The forum - a national common space for publishing and access to quality scientific and technical information on odontology - is coordinated by the Faculdad de Odontología de la Universidad de la República del Uruguay and results from cooperative process conducted in the past two years, gathering national organizations under the guidance of the Advisory Committee

SciELO Brazil adopts Creative Commons attribution of access and use

The SciELO Brazil adopted the Creative Commons Licensing “Attribution – Non-commercial Use” (CC BY-NC). The license establishes that shared texts must make attribution according to the author’s indication and must not be traded. The decision upon the CC BY-NC license was made after analysis and consulting experts, editors and members of the Advisory Committee of the Brazilian collection. The editors can also choose less restrictive licenses. The adoption of the Creative Commons will be extended to other collections of the SciELO network
