Attaining the record of half million indexed documents in 2009 strengthens the LILACS as a bibliographic index, reference of scientific and technical production in health of Latin America and the Caribbean. LILACS is operated in the VHL network, with the participation of over 800 cooperating institutions from 39 countries. As from 2005, the VHL Stations have been established in all Brazilian states, summing up 69 units throughout the country after the opening of 14 stations in 2009. These stations provide equipment and trained professionals, enable digital and informational inclusion of health teams in hospitals and municipal health secretariats, among other institutions and thus expand access to and use of information sources of VHL.
