LILACS achieves half million records

Attaining the record of half million indexed documents in 2009 strengthens the LILACS as a bibliographic index, reference of scientific and technical production in health of Latin America and the Caribbean. LILACS is operated in the VHL network, with the participation of over 800 cooperating institutions from 39 countries. VHL Stations in Brazil: 14 new units installed in 2009

As from 2005, the VHL Stations have been established in all Brazilian states, summing up 69 units throughout the country after the opening of 14 stations in 2009. These stations provide equipment and trained professionals, enable digital and informational inclusion of health teams in hospitals and municipal health secretariats, among other institutions and thus expand access to and use of information sources of VHL. New VHL Peru portal is launched

A new version of the portal of the VHL Peru was presented during the VHL Week, held in the capital city of Lima, in October 2009. VHL SDH renews the theme sustainable development and health

A project of renewal, strengthening and expansion of the VHL Sustainable Development and Health (VHL SDH) has been established by PAHO/WHO, through cooperation between its area of Sustainable Development and Environment (SDE) and BIREME/PAHO/WHO. The project counts on the active cooperation of professionals and institutions that are reference in this field. Mexico promotes the development of the VHL

The Centro de Información para Decisiones en Salud Pública (CENIDSP) of the Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública (INSP) resumed the development of the VHL Mexico in an online event in November 2009, with the support of PAHO/WHO, through its Representative Office in Mexico and BIREME/PAHO/WHO. EVIPNet Americas advances in 6 Latin American countries

The EVIPNet Americas Program, leaded by PAHO/WHO, organized a workshop about the development of policy briefs in Santiago, Chile, in October.
