VHL Network discusses strategic priorities for cooperation

The first of 2011 meeting series that shall discuss the strategic priorities of the VHL network took place in July 5th, on online sessions with around 140 participants from 24 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Necobelac: courses take place in Portugal and Argentina

As part of the associated networks and initiatives of the VHL, the Necobelac (Network of Collaboration between Europe and Latin American-Caribbean Countries) project spreads good practices in scientific writing and the open access publishing model, particularly in the public health field. VHL ePORTUGUÊSe: access to information in Portuguese-speaking countries

The VHL ePORTUGUÊSe network, headed by WHO, counts with Guinea Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe, who most recently launched their national VHL instances. Angola, Brazil and Mozambique are also part of the ePORTUGUÊSe network. The countries keep promoting actions to develop the network, such as the 3rd Coordination Meeting, based in São Tomé and Príncipe, that shall take place between September 23rd and September 30th 2011

Brazilian Odontology VHL promotes distance learning course

The Brazilian Odontology VHL is amplifying the development of capacities in its network through distance learning activities. The first course in this format promoted the production of information sources on events and it was directed to professionals from 17 institutions of the SIEO - Sistema de Informação Especializado na Área de Odontologia. Infographics promote scientific and technical information

The collection of information sources in the VHL and associated networks are enriched through the development of infographics. Launched in 2009 by BIREME/PAHO/WHO, the infographics started to be made available in the platform in 2011, focusing on the dissemination of scientific information on dengue. In this initiative, headed by TDR/WHO, the methodologies and technologies used in the cooperation with BIREME are being adopted to create infographics with interdisciplinary teams

VHL Veterinary Medicine provides content in three languages

The Virtual Health Library in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (VHL Vet Brazil) expands the dissemination of technical and scientific information in this area by providing the interfaces in Spanish and English besides Portuguese as the original language. The network implements the VHL model by innovating on resources and services offered to the users, also strengthening the capacity development through distance learning courses offered to the cooperating centers from the network of the VHL Vet Brasil
